1906 Club visit feedback

Members Feedback on a recent 1906 Club jaunt

How to beat the Bishopbriggs women (lady?) golfers.

Use the 1906 Centenary reciprocal club facility.

Friday 30 October 2009: Morpeth Golf Club – they could not have made the four of us more welcome. Good course, great greens, great grub, great beer, great prices. Great Result?: Men won 5&4. The professional even gave us 4 sets of complimentary Morpeth centenary ball markers and pitch mark repairers.

Monday 2 November: Beamish Park Golf Club – again an excellent welcome, an even better golf course (although more hilly), even better greens, even better beer, food and prices. Result?: Men won 2 up.

All for free, well the golf was

Both courses in the Newcastle area.

The players: Ian Hopkins and Billy Simpson versus wives Sheila and Hilda.

PS:  male over sixties (like us) make sure to hire a power caddy (only £5 each per round at each course).

PPS: Insist that the women carry their clubs (as ours did).

PPPS: quit while you are ahead.
